A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. – Lao Zi
Hi there, I’m Ali. I have always loved being out in nature; something about breathing in the fresh air and seeing the natural world in all its enduring beauty fills me with a sense of excitement and awe. It is humbling to imagine that the world will keep spinning no matter what you do, or at least, that’s what I always thought. Recently, however, the effects of human impact have started to become clear- warmer temperatures, rising tides, and species extinction are all signs that our lifestyle has become unsustainable.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I was born in 1992, placing me squarely in the Millenial Generation. I know well the feeling of spending all day on your laptop, driving when you could easily walk or bike, or shopping at fast fashion retailers because the prices are just too good to pass up. I’m just as susceptible to the allures of our fabulously convenient, yet incredibly wasteful modern lifestyle as you are. But that’s the beauty of Zero Impact Goals: it’s not about an instantaneous overhaul, but about small deliberate choices we can make every day to leave the world better than we found it.
